SPORT

Sports activities play an important role in CUPs youth activity programme; we provide many diverse sports to engage young people such as football, multi sports, athletics, basketball, athletics, and many more.

Ultimate Frisbee is a fast moving team sport and although it is a relatively unknown sport, comparisons can be made with other team sports such as football, basketball and rugby, except it is played with a flying disc. There are no referees and the rules are simple, making it easy for newcomers to pick up.

RHYTHM & RHYME PROGRAMME

DRAMA

CHANCE 2 DANCE

It was identified that there is a lack of provision for 9-14 year old girls within a specific areas. The need for this provision was identified through questionnaires in local High and Junior schools. CUP initiated a dance and drama based session called ‘chance2dance’. The project was delivered on a trial period for 6-weeks on Monday evenings. It provided the opportunity for the girls to experience different styles of dance, drama and singing. Over 30 girls aged 8-14 years attended the initial sessions.

The girls involved in the project performed an adaptation of High School Musical, to friends, family and local residents.

This project allows the girls who share an interest in exploring, creating, and learning about dance, drama and music to experience and develop their skills in an enjoyable environment.

Due to the popularity and success of the project the sessions have continued and a second group has since been established in another community.
